GIVE YOUR HEALTH PRIORITY

The Bible clearly says that “whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Galatians 6:7.

It is not logical to poison your body and blood with unhealthy foods  and still see yourself in good health. The reason for keeping good health is because Paul writes, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20. Unless you realize the worth and value of your body you will not eat “everything” that motivates you lower passions. There is a reason why your brain is above the stomach. Not everything that’s sweet to the mouth is pleasant to the stomach, sometimes the stomach gets irritated. The food we eat is related to our health. We eat food not because we are hungry but because our bodies need nutrition.

ALL ABOUT FAMILY

Who would not wish for a happy settled  family life after  the strain of  education at campus? How many PhD holders and other world respected men and women have sleepless nights behind closed doors?I have heard of various rich people that spend their nights in bars away from their multi-thousands comfy beds at home.Well, definitely you know of an experience or two. Today I take you through a keen study into the root and sole cause of these important institution – the family.

By definition, a family is “a group of people related by blood, marriage, law or custom” and of course many times all these tend to sequentially appear in all families. Now, what do you think is the difference between family life as in the worldly perception and as in the Christian way?

Let us consider only one case study of a family in the Bible against all the worldly families that exist. You’ve probably heard one or two about Noah that built the ark; married to a wife (not named in the Bible). He was a son to Lamech and father to three sons named in Gen 6:10. At a an advanced age God purposed to use him in saving the people out of destruction by floods (Gen 7:6-7) And he responds to God’s command by simply obeying (Gen 6:22, 7:5) Then notably when the floods came he saved his family wholly; that is including his sons’ wives.
The interesting part of Noah’s family life that I could wish us to compare with our families is how he responds to God’s call to preach for a hundred and twenty years yet he has a family to take care of and in fact a wife to attend to.

As a matter of fact, family life in our world has become a bond of slavery only using smooth handcuffs in the name of love to ‘sweeten’ it.We are in campus and already facing all lots of issues in our relationships but still hoping for the best in our future marriages to some nice lady/man somewhere away from these that we are now joking with. If you cannot go a day without seeing him/her then call it off because clearly you won’t heed to God’s call for more than a day.

Now this is for us men, the families we are to build are to be heaven-bound by our leadership in the Lord. We are to be so responsible to an extent as to effect responsibility in our irresponsible partners. We are studying for better life ahead, then why drive in the road clearly marked “HELL AHEAD”? We are not of age for a family if we cannot resist negativities and effect positive change in them that we intend to couple with in marriage. Do not spend sleepless nights studying now then spend sleepless nights in bars in the future for the worry of the chaotic wife at home.

Be the one to bring sanity into that relationship, be the one to shed reality therein. Go speak to him/her and request that they should hearken to God’s call of responsibility. If he/she refuses then certainly that is not your match; they belong to a destiny that you do not. Intellectuals think smart but real intellectuals think and act smart.God bless our families!

MUSIC AND SCRIPTURE INSEPARABLE

Some time ago I heard from people that those engaged in the field of gospel music are detached from the Biblical scriptures and esteem music as of more preference than the Bible. Is this statement  justified or it is just a mere hypothesis?

The experience I have gained in the field of Christian/ Gospel Music affirms to me of the correlation between the lyrics of the song and the Biblical verses. The linking of the two is dependent on an artist’s or song-writers’ personal relationship with God.

Some of the good songs that have helped me learn more about the bible are as indicated below:
NB: Some of these songs borrow from the Biblical scriptures include:
    Better than Life (Accapella)-Based on Psalms 63
    Create in me a Clean Heart-Based on Psalms 51:10-12
    Now to Him who is able to do (Accapella)-Based on Ephesians 3:20
    Four Days Late-Based on John 11:1-26
    Cast your bread upon the water (Southern Gospel)-Ecclesiastes 11:1
    The Lord’s My Shepherd (Hymn)-Based on Psalms 23 and many more

Ephesians 5: 19(KJV)- Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Singing hymns and Psalms to the Lord is recommended in the Bible. Therefore, there should not be a disconnect existing between true Christian/Gospel music and the Bible unless it be called secular music. It should be within the interest of God’s singers and music makers to perform and produce Biblical related music for enhancing true worship in churches.

Did you know that Most artistes began the music art in church but never expanded it use in church. There are good secular songs worth of our education but songs to the Master count highly. Heaven is also counting on you beloved song-writer and musician.

THIS WORD DIVINE-HOLY WRIT

For as long as I can remember, no book has been so loved, so hated and so damned as the Bible. One generation passes and another comes, yet it has abided and stood the test of time. Mankind from all spheres of life with divergent opinions of life, be they fascists, theologians, Marxists or so have searched the sacred pages of the oracle to find words that justify their courses of action. But just what makes this book abide through generations? Just what makes it stand out from other books that we know and even read? What makes it relevant even in today’s life? Take a pause and think dear friend...well, it is the uniqueness of its source and its subject matter.

The Holy writ states our dangers and opportunities while helping indicate our crises and choices. It moulds, educates, refines and fashions anew that defective and indulgent character bent naturally towards evil. From the records of the deeds of our fathers, we get encouragement, exhortation and correction. Most importantly, we get to see how our loving Father deals patiently with the erring, giving humanity a second chance to be partakers of His divine nature.

Never has it been so evident than in these last days of the earth’s history that this sacred book addresses the very issues that pertain to life and death. The prophesies of old have been made known to us through it and some have even unfolded before our very own eyes. Truly we have no excuse to pledge ignorance of anything. Brother and sister, I invite you to be a partaker of this great privilege of knowing the future while you live presently.

The holy writ appeals to all minds with truths spoken very plainly through inspired men of old. The author, God himself, has given this letter of love to suffering humanity groaning under the curse and bondage of sin  to instruct and educate. The inspired Word is ”profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness”...2 Tim 3:16 (margin). No man should fear the scrutiny and reproof that the Bible brings over our character, for none has ever succeeded without correction.

Take a read today and every day, and share in the thoughts of Him who gives you that breath of life. Be blessed as you enjoy these wonderful words of life .

A moment of prayer

When Jesus rose back into the sky, He left us with powerful tools to keep in touch with Him, even as He went to prepare a place for us. Prayer, as a tool to communicate to him and tell him all we are going through and ask him for guidance, the Holy Spirit to deliver His guidance and the Holy Word of God to light our path and give us unending knowledge of who He is and what He was, He is and will be.

We can talk about prayer and leave the other tools for another day. Most Christians even after reading about prayer, find themselves not taking it seriously. Now is not the time to ask one's self if it is either the devil's fault or your fault; it is the time to know that you are missing on your way to eternity since you are losing the battle.

What makes a prayer as specified in the Bible? How should we pray and have God listen to our supplication? Jesus gave us a sample in Mathew 6:9 -13. He gave us a way to follow, and asked us to avoid long ones in Mark 12:40 and Luke 20:47 as the scribes did. Our prayers to got ought to give as a chance to say to God our innermost needs, our deepest sorrows and our most secret mistakes, so that He may forgive us.

Have you ever found your mind wondering around as you pray? Most have, including myself. It is one of the most spiritually challenging things to deal with in the human life, staying focused in prayer, and realizing that the Father we are talking to is the one who made us and all that there came to be. Staying in sync with the needs of the Holy Spirit and planning what to ask or or thank God for are some of the things that can help us stay focused when praying. The position in which you pray will also affect your concentration in prayer. Most people pray lying in bed, sitting on chairs, while Jesus "..fell onto the ground.." on His knees and prayed ( Mark 14:35). The position in which you pray ought to keep you in the prayer environment.

Did Jesus say it is going to be easy? He prayed and came back only to find His disciples asleep, and acknowledged that the spirit may be willing but the flesh is weak ( Mark 14:38). He says we have to keep awake and pray in order not to get into temptation.

As I put my pen down, pray secretly, pray without ceasing, pray with faith and trust in God. I hope you find peace in communicating with our great God and savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
